Remembering and celebrating......................

Hi Sweet-peas......

Oh what a difference a few days of sunshine and warmth can make.
All around 'St Biddies' the garden and orchard have burst into life.........we are just loving the very overgrown secret garden feel.
The light in the late evening is so soft and peaceful.

I have unpacked all my summer dresses and sorted through my collection of sunglasses.........rediscovering these fabulous vintage tortoiseshell sunnies....perfect for today.
I have also made a few more hair-clips from screw-on and clip-on earrings, its been so exciting selling them in the shop, and hearing lovely feedback about them. This is one of my favorites, a pretty mosaic with yellow and red roses, a nice match to my rose dress.

Yesterday was a day of reflection for me......the 5th of November marks the anniversary of us taking over Tete a Tete Vintage, 8 years ago and opening the original Two Squirrels Vintage, 6 years ago..........I still have moments of sadness thinking of our great little shops and how they ended it such a ugly way.
So I am a tad bit seedy today as we had quite a few drinks to remember the old vintage shops................and celebrate the new 'Two Squirrels Vintage'.....1 month old....yay.

love V

  1. Things may have changed here in Christchurch but we NEVER forget our special Squirrel friends. We love you guys, and dont you dare think for a second that the memory of your gorgeous stores or amazing selves will ever disappear from these streets xxx

  2. Aww Vanessa, I will never forget how lovely you and Warren were every single time I visited your amazing shops. I still have a lot of beautiful things from them, including the lovely little bow hairclip you gave me as a gift once when I must've been 15 or so. It is definitely the two of you who instilled me with my love of vintage clothing and I often lament that your shops aren't here in Wellington for me to visit. It is horrible how the shops ended but their essence is with you and Warren, not their physicality. Have some hot chips for the seediness! xo

  4. Georgia Rose is right - the shops are you two, not the bricks and mortar, and you've picked yourselves up after a really traumatic and sad time, and started again. So it's clear that Two Squirrels can conquer the world, if they put their minds to it and whisk away the sadness with their furry tails (and a few drinkies!)
That is an adorable dress, so pretty, and as always you look gorgeous. Such a sweet little hair clip (I bet they sell well) and the sunnies are perfect. Summer's coming, Miss V, get ready! xxx

  7. On the whole I'm all for a bit of wallowing, but only a bit. Look at all you have achieved now and how happy you are. Life has a funny way of doing things but usually for the best. x

  9. pretty dress and I love the earring into hair pin idea. I have so many single earrings and didn't have a clue what to do with them.

Congrats on the 1 month anniversary!

  10. You and Warren are what makes any shop feel warm and look amazing and you take that with you everywhere you do. I think is normal and natural to mourn the loss of things we miss and loved it's ok to feel sad.

I think Spring is just so lovely and you in this light airy frock says it all!

  17. Darling Poppet you look gorgeous. That frock is divine. And the garden at St Biddies looks magical. I'm so glad I had the chance to visit both of your shops pre earthquake. They were so special, & so much was lost. But thank God you & Warren stand tall, & are again doing what you love. I hope you are feeling strengthened for another busy weekend of trading. Much love. Xx

  19. mmmm it's a funny thing all that's happened. We move on but still remember and we are all so changed in one way or another. I feel a bit sad thinking about your lovely shops too but also very happy and hopeful that you've created such a wonderful new space and place for yourselves. Goes without saying - am in love with that frock!
