Stepping back in time........

I was looking in my old diary from last year and read that it is a year since we had the last access to the Tete a Tete. Its hard to believe, we still have plant and stock trapped in there.
We have made a few wee changes to the blog, and if you are a new squirrel follower and want to know
a bit more about us, press the 'Squirrels Story' button on the menu bar.

I have had a few lovely comments with questions.
To the beautiful Vix:
Yes, most of the photos you see are in our garden, lots are taken in the backyard.
To the gorgeous "Vintage Bird girl":
Yes, sweet as you can see clearer today, I have cut all my hair off. Eeeekkk still not sure about it.
To the sweetest Krista:
A "gym frock" is an old school uniform worn from the 1920's to the 1950's.
They are pure wool which I am finding so warm to wear.

Oh and these are my new vintage boots brought on Friday from the Ferry Antique Centre.
Since we were stepping back in time the coat I am wearing is a very special part of my vintage collection. Beautiful wool felt coat with embroidered detail, circa 1900-1910.

  1. Your blog header looks fabulous!!!! So scrumptious! I love the new 'do'....it really suits you. That coat is amazing, the detailing at the collar & cuffs is exquisite. And those shoes are gorgeous. I would love a pair like that, but I'm afraid my little feet would look like sheep hooves! I'm planning a trip to the Ferry Antique center on our trip in September....you're more then welcome to join me! Love. Xx

  4. your coat is a beauty, love the puffy sleeve cap and the pretty trim. Also enjoying the snow and winter photos in June! Where I live it's been in the mid-90's (30's) and it never snows.

  7. I love your new header - what a pretty lady you are. And isn't that crocheting delightful? I'm figuring its a scarf, but looks like lots of cute little doilies all stung together - I like!

  8. I agree - your new header is sophisticated and oh so charming with your wee squirrel. The detailing on the coat is amazing and you are the perfect caretaker for it for your coat's next time travel. Also, your lacy neck scarf and that dress are the perfect complements. Then finally, what a find those boots are! I love that photo.

  14. Oh Vanessa, I knew about you losing your shops but I had never actually read the 'Squirrels Story' section of your blog until now. What a tragedy. The shops look absolutely amazing. Such an inviting and pleasant vintage haven. If I lived in your neck of the woods I would have been a frequent visitor! It's so inspirational the way you have picked up the pieces and carried on with such a positive attitude. I'm sure your online shop will be just as successful and I wish you every success!

This coat is a piece of historical treasure. It's just divine. I love the addition of the crochet scarf and boots you look like an Edwardian school girl. Btw, your hair looks lovely

  16. Those boots are absolutely gorgeous! I love your new 'hair do' too. Lucy hit the nail on the head when she said you look like an Edwardian school girl-reminds me of Jayne Eyre or something like that. Very cute. :-)
